The Good Samaritan Shelter Campus is a compact floor plan of 5000 Sq.Ft. The Community Enrichment Center will serve as the Santa Maria Neighborhood Kitchen. California Action Commission serves the low-income community, ages 0 to 100, through four core departments: Children Services, Family and Youth Services, Environmental Services, and Nutritional Services. The site planning, building massing, materials, and detailing are all designed to minimize the impact of the structure to the neighboring community. By focusing on the users of the facility the building serves to function a multitude of uses.
Green architecture is apparent throughout the design of the building. The dining area is 100% daylit with transparent greenhouse wall panels. A 30 kilowatt photovoltaic is screened by a butterfly roof.
