This project is a certified energy efficient project as certified by the county of Santa Barbara building review committee. The residences exceed current energy standards by 30%. The homeowners are provided the option to reduce total energy cost. The project is working with the County of Santa Barbara Innovative Building Review Committee to achieve a more sustainable design to reduce the buildings energy consumption below state mandated standards. The houses in Orcutt Creek reflect the early history of Orcutt. Traditional craftsman styles are blended with details referencing the spontaneity of early Orcutt's rise as a turn of the century oil boomtown. The plans emphasize outdoor courtyards and porches with views of the adjacent meadow and creek. Orcutt Creek is an opportunity to look at current residential community design and re-evaluate housing with an eye for sustainability. Some elements of sustainability do cost more money. However many of our proposed strategies may become the new standard of the future. Many "green building" solutions come at little or no cost and are a matter of making new choices.
